is a scientific evidence-based, data-driven discipline that utilizes principles of behavior to understand and improve socially significant behaviors by examining the variables responsible for the improvement in behavior. ABA systematically examines what happens before a behavior (antecedent), what happens after a behavior (consequence), and why a behavior occurs (function) before an individualized behavior plan is designed and implemented. The purpose of ABA intervention is to increase an individual’s acquisition skills and to decrease challenging problem behaviors that are socially significant.
Some areas targeted in our ABA programs are the following: self-help skills, play skills, social / communication skills, expressive and receptive language skills, problem behavior, and other identified areas of need. The overall goal of ABA is for an individual to gain the skills needed for independence and to generalize all of the skills learned in a variety of settings, contexts, and across various people. Our ABA services are provided and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and are also implemented by highly trained Registered Behavior Technicians. Our services are 1:1 direct intervention with the client and therapist. Group therapy is available if deemed appropriate for the client.
